《空島》

智慧型手機和平板電腦以驚人的速度蔓延在我們的日常生活,它幫我們建立了一個新的、隨身的虛擬空間。由其在公共場所,它讓每個人變成孤島,或者說虛擬漂浮的《空島》,空島裡面繽紛華美、自給自足、自己圓滿。如果這個智慧型電子產品的背面如果刻上蘋果標誌,甚至能給人一份小小的優越感,只要躲進螢幕顯示得畫面裡,就能很確實地幫我們躲掉與陌生人四目相對的尷尬;取代而來的是整個空間瀰漫著一股凝滯不動氣氛的新尷尬。我常認為,這些忙著自轉的空島,體現的不是現代人極端忙碌的生活步調,而是極端寂寞卻不敢跨越寂寞的疏離。

The smart phones and tablet pcs instantly create a new virtual world around us. In public, smart phone or tablet pc makes a person become a lonely island, or a virtual island floating in the sky. This island is beautiful and self-sufficient.

This little thing even provides you a sense of superiority. As long as you hide into the screen then you can avoid the embarrassment of connecting with strangers efficiently. There comes a new kind of embarrassment that even cools the air around because of no connection at all. This is what I thought of, those islands in the sky are not extremely busy in the modern cities. They are extremely lonely.

羅特列克的作品裡,筆觸灑脫多變,我常在那些將完未完的作品裡,看到有如在春天的小雨中,踏著地上水漬漫步的愉悅心情,還有屬於他那個時代的無奈故事。羅特列克的作品裡,每一件都說著一個屬於它的小故事,在畫面裡開始,然後結束。這也是我想藉著《空島》來表現的觀念。《空島》講的是一個自體圓滿的世界,就像「天空之城」,能自給自足,自我供應,在無盡的時空裡漂浮游蕩。
